In that part of the Sahara Desert area ,you will have the chance to ride a camel, take nice shots and have a lot of fun (optional).Then,you may like to visit the sun boat museum (optional).A short drive ,you will find yourself at the feet of the fascinating statue of the sphinx.The largest monolith sculpture in Ancient Egypt.This mysterious monument was carved to symbolize the pharaoh’s power and wisdom.
Feeling excited and overwhelmed with what you saw, more pyramids, colored reliefs and hieroglyphics are still waiting for you in Sakkara.This is your second destination where you will see the step pyramid of king Zoser designed by the great architect Imhotep 2800 B.C the oldest world stone structure.Then,you can visit one of the Mastaba tombs of the nobles to see how the daily life activities of the Egyptians were presented on the walls of those tombs.From Sakkara,set off to Memphis:the oldest capital of ancient Egypt.The city was the center of culture, economy and prosperity during the old kingdom.There is an open-air museum that number of artifacts found in the city including the 2nd largest sphinx statue, colossus of Ramses 2nd, sarcophagi and many more antiquities.At the end of the tour,you will dropped off to the hotel.
Day Two: City Tour
After breakfast at the hotel, you start to enjoy your 2nd day in Cairo. Your guide will meet you to explore the Egyptian museum.This museum (opened in 1901) has the largest collection of artifacts in the world.The visit to this museum is a must,with your guide, you will find yourself diving in a sea of 165,000 artifacts and antiquities.Your guide will explain and show you the highlights and most important of all. Mainly, the treasures of the young pharaoh Tut Ankh Amun,his golden mask and coffins and the contents of his intact tomb. You will enjoy looking at the fantastic sculptures,sarcophagi, jewelry and papyrus scrolls that date back to different eras.You will have the chance to see the royal mummies of the great pharaohs (optional).You can have free time to browse the museum yourself after the guided part. After the impressive visit to the museum, you will be taken to The Citadel of Saladin. This fort was built in 1173 to protect the city of Cairo against the Crusaders. The walls and Towers of the citadel are still in place.A lot of structures were built inside the citadel but the main attraction is the alabaster mosque or Mohamed Ali mosque. Mohamed Ali (1805-1849) ordered to build this magnificent mosque which is similar to the design of the blue mosque in Istanbul. Accompanied by your guide, you will learn about the basic elements of the mosque and the main principles of the Islamic religion.Both the mosque and the citadel were built on an elevated hill, so you have a great chance to have a wonderful view over the city including the old and the modern parts.Later, you will have lunch in a local restaurant before going back to Ain Sokhna port.
